Job summary

The Division of Rheumatology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join its clinical team. Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner for adults.
Current New York State NP license (or proof of application) and RN license.
Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications.
Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Obtain patient histories; perform comprehensive and focused physical examinations; order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests; and manage acute and chronic patient conditions.
Triage patient inquiries and clinical concerns, providing timely assessment and follow-up.
Counsel and educate patients and caregivers regarding disease processes, treatment options, and ongoing care management.
Support patient access initiatives by managing follow-up visits, urgent visits, and shared-care models.
Deliver patient care both collaboratively with physicians and autonomously within the scope of practice.
Prescribe medications and document all patient-caregiver encounters in the EMR.
Order, supervise, and administer infusion therapies.
Screen and enroll eligible patients in clinical trials in accordance with approved research protocols.
