Job summary

The Baton Rouge Clinic is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide quality nursing care to patients and support physicians in our clinic. The MA will be responsible for scheduling, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx call-ins, and phone triage.

Essential duties include patient care within licensed scope, instruction on treatment plans, precise documentation, and effective communication with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant with licensure.
• Experience providing patient care.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and care teams.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as part of the healthcare team.
• Follows nursing policies, procedures and protocols.
• Instructs patients on treatment plans, medications and follow-up.
• Documents accurately in patient medical records.
• Greets patients, completes registrations and provides instructions.
• Interviews patients and records medical information in the chart.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
• Educates patients on medications and provider instructions.
• Triages emergency situations.
• Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
• Handles refill requests and prior authorizations.
