Job summary

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide quality nursing care services within our clinic and support the physicians in their care. The MA will handle scheduling, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx call-ins, and phone triage.

Responsible for patient preparation for examinations, patient education on medications, and accurate documentation in the medical records system.

Qualifications

• Provide patient care within scope of license.
• Explain treatment plans, medications and follow-up.
• Document accurately in patient medical records.
• Triage emergencies and manage urgent situations.
• Assist with scheduling, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx calls.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as a member of the health care team within scope of license.
• Follows nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implements appropriately in the care of adult and pediatric patients.
• Provides instructions to patients regarding treatment plan, medications and follow-up.
• Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team including accurate documentation in patient medical records.
• Greets patients, completes registration forms, and gives instructions.
• Interview patients and updates medical information into the myChart system.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests.
• Educates patients on medications and provider instructions.
• Triages emergency situations.
• Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
• Refills and prior authorizations for medications.

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is currently seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide quality nursing care services to the patients of our Clinic and the physicians providing their care. In these positions, the MA will be responsible for scheduling, injections, pre-certifications, procedures, referrals, Rx call-ins, and phone triage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides patient care as a member of the health care team within scope of license.
• Follows nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implements appropriately in the care of adult and pediatric patients.
• Provides instructions to patients regarding treatment plan, medications and follow-up.
• Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team including accurate documentation in patient medical records.
• Greets patients with a smile, completion of registration forms, and gives instructions
• Interview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint) and medications etc. into the myChart
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests
• Provides patient education with regards to medications and instructions set forth by the provider to manage their health
• Triages emergency situations
• Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization
• Refill requests and Prior Authorizations for medications

Requirements

• Medical Assistant Certification

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
