Job summary

Navy Region Naval District Washington Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks a skilled maintenance worker to perform minor corrective adjustments and maintain bowling alley machinery at the Bowling Center in Patuxent, MD.

Job description

Summary

Make minor corrective adjustments to bowling alley machinery at the Bowling Center,

Duties
  • Installs, repairs, overhauls and regularly inspects bowling facility electrical, mechanical, and computerized equipment to include automatic pinsetter, automatic ball returns, speed cradle stops, telescore units, automatic ball cleaners, and hole borers.
  • Clear ball and pin jams, repairs and replaces foul lights.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance on automatic handling equipment such as vacuuming, ball cleaning machines, clean turn around pans, ball elevators and cross conveyors on pinsetters.
  • Assist with maintaining stock levels and keeping records on spare parts for automatic pinsetter and mechanical equipment.
  • Replace burned-out fuses and light bulbs and assists in replacement of electrical fixtures as required.
  • Clean, oils and conditions lane surfaces.
  • May sweep and mop the floor. Dust furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean walls and rest rooms and replaces washers in faucets.
  • Collect and removes trash.
  • Advise supervisor or manager of unusual maintenance problems.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Must pass all applicable records and background check.

A qualified candidate possess the following:

Must have manual dexterity necessary to make minor corrective adjustments to machinery and replace fixtures. Skill in the use of common hand tools and ability to perform limited preventive maintenance such as cleaning and oiling of equipment and conditioning lane surfaces. Ability to use common cleaning materials and equipment and to safely operate and adjust bowling equipment.

Must have knowledge of mechanical and electrical/electronic principles and operating characteristics of bowling equipment.

Physical Effort

Lifts and carries parts or objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, and working in awkward positions.

Working Conditions

Works indoors in adequately heated and lighted area. Exposed to loud noises, dust, grease, chemical cleaning solvents, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, abrasions, and electrical shock.
