RFP Strategy and Operations Training Advisor - Remote

The RFP Training Advisor within the U.S. Employer Project Management Team is a key role that promotes growth and knowledge development across all RFP-related functions, including Presale and RFP Q&A teams. This individual demonstrates extensive knowledge of Cigna’s business, segments, selling strategies, and proposal processes, serving as a coach and subject matter expert, while also leading advanced training sessions in collaboration with other experts to meet organizational goals.

The RFP Training Advisor is responsible for educating and mentoring both new and experienced RFP staff. They work closely with peers and management to implement process improvements and manage change initiatives. The role involves planning and delivering ongoing training on new products, processes, and strategies, as well as addressing knowledge gaps identified through management trends.

Responsibilities of the RFP Training Advisor
Educating and Mentoring RFP Staff
  • Develop and facilitate training programs for new hires and existing staff across all US Commercial RFP roles, fostering critical thinking, writing, and project management skills for complex proposals.
  • Create and update training materials reflecting current products and processes, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee new hire performance during training, ensuring learning objectives are achieved, and communicate progress to management.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to develop independent proposal management skills among new hires.
  • Review case work for accuracy and adherence to SOPs before client submission.
  • Use trend data to identify and implement areas for improvement through coaching.
Leading Improvements & Driving Change
  • Seek efficiencies in training processes to maximize resource value and results.
  • Collaborate with management to identify and address training needs based on proposal trends and gaps.
  • Support and enhance workflows, tools, and processes for complex proposals and new product launches.
  • Lead projects that improve organizational processes, ensuring timely completion and impactful results.
  • Recommend solutions for process issues and support testing and implementation of improvements.
Qualifications
  • Experience in RFP processes, sales, and project management.
  • Knowledge of Cigna’s business, products, and tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
  • Proficiency in training design and delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and able to operate independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; willingness to travel up to 10% nationally.

Remote work requires a reliable internet connection (cable broadband or fiber, at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload).
