Job summary

Flex is seeking an experienced RF Test Engineer in Austin to test and debug RF circuit cards, systems, and sub-assemblies using a range of diagnostic tools. You will work with engineers to analyze signal strength and interference, and generate technical test documentation.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing with oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analyzers, and power meters, along with scripting in Python or C#.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field; MSEE preferred.
  • 6–8 years of experience with RF measurement and test equipment.
  • Strong technical aptitude with cross-functional communication; scripting in Python or C#.

Responsibilities

  • Test, measure, and troubleshoot RF circuit cards, systems, and sub-assemblies.
  • Operate oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, spectrum and network analyzers.
  • Generate and review test procedures, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Monitor quality data trends and report findings to the team.
  • Develop and implement improvements in test design to reduce cost and increase yield.
  • Provide training and support for manufacturing personnel.

We are seeking an experienced RF Test Engineer with experience in Wireless and RF technologies to join our team. As a Test Engineer in this position, the candidate would work with various types of RF diagnostic and testing tools to test and debug failures and defects.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Support the testing, measuring, and troubleshooting of complex electronic and RF circuit card assemblies, systems, and sub-assemblies using specialized equipment to analyze signal strength, interference, and other relevant parameters.
  • Hands‑on experience with lab instruments such as Oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, Spectrum analyzers, Network analyzers, multimeters.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain test equipment to ensure the ongoing functionality of the equipment.
  • Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation.
  • Assist in Monitor Quality data for trends and outliers and report regularly to the team.
  • Generate and implement improvements in test design and develop methodologies to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput.
  • Interface with Engineering, Quality, and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause.
  • Provide training and support for manufacturing personnel.
Here are a few of our preferred experiences:
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, EE/Electronics, or related field (MSEE or advanced degree preferred)
  • 6-8 years of experience using RF measurement and test equipment including power meters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers
    • to debug to the component level in RF circuit cards
    • to troubleshoot test systems and drive improvements
  • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude, communication skills, and be able to work cross-functionally within the operations organization and with other disciplines/functions.
  • Programming or scripting experience (Python or C#)
  • Experience with Circuit card assemblies; Test, Design, troubleshoot
  • Problem solving capabilities and experience using metrics and data to drive actions
  • Proven track record of solving/ troubleshooting complicated production issues and/ or driving yield improvements
