Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Winter/Spring RF Technician student to join the Mobile Solutions team as a part-time co-op. You will provide technician and engineering support in a lab environment, assist with assembly, and contribute to PAM and FEM module development for cellular handsets.

Responsibilities include executing DVT-related testing, data processing, and documenting results. Basic bench troubleshooting and hand-tool use are essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an Associate in Electronics Technician degree.
  • Available to work onsite in Cedar Rapids 20 hours per week January through May/June 2027.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Basic bench-level troubleshooting with DVMs, oscilloscope.
  • Able to use hand tools and work from schematics.
  • Follows test procedures and documents results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform automated or semi-automated testing of parts.
  • Process data, plot results, and perform statistical analysis.
  • Support DVT scope and assist with test program development.
  • Document test setups and troubleshooting steps in engineering notebook.
  • Assist in design and testing of custom testing solutions.

Description

The Skyworks Solutions Cedar Rapids design center is seeking a Winter/Spring part-time RF Technician student to join our Mobile Solutions team. In this role you will provide technician and engineering support, help with assembly, and assist with various tasks in a lab environment. We are looking for a skilled and motivated RF engineering student to contribute to industry-leading development of Power Amplifier (PAM) and Front End (FEM) module solutions for the fast paced and highly competitive cellular handset market.

Responsibilities

Primary job responsibilities may include automated or semi-automated testing of parts, data post-processing, plotting, statistical analysis, documentation

You will support a wide variety of critical activities as part of the Design-Verification-Test (DVT) scope, including the following:

  • Primary task is to properly execute DVT work requests using test programs provided by the design or test engineer and provide initial screening of measurement results
  • Schedule and scrutinize DVT work requests for completeness and identify areas requiring additional clarification, resources, or test program development for new or unusual requirements
  • Must maintain a strong customer focus and proactively communicate priority conflicts and potential or actual schedule slips while maintaining the high level of throughput necessary to support Skyworks dynamic and diverse product mix
  • Become proficient in test setup debug and troubleshooting to insure we successfully meet our primary responsibility. Maintain an engineering notebook to document proper test setups, terminology, troubleshooting techniques, issues encountered, etc.
  • Assist in design, crunstruction, test, and troubleshooting of custom made testings solutions. Some mechanical experience needed
  • Customer driven compliance or pre-compliance with specifications
  • Golden Unit characterization to establish the specification baseline for pre-production builds
  • Customer device sampling during product development phases
  • Test of Skyworks devices within customer reference designs
  • Pre-screen of evaluation board build for early failure identification
  • Dynamic offload of design bench testing due to resource constraints
Required Experience and Skills
  • Working toward Associates in Electronics Technician degree
  • Must be able to work onsite in Cedar Rapids minimum of 20 hours per week January through May/June 2027
  • Microsoft Office
  • Basic understanding of Bench level/trouble shooting electronic equipment (DVMs, Ohmmeter, Oscilloscope)
  • Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., Tweezers, Soldering Irons)
  • Work from schematic drawing

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
