Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in Irvine is seeking a RF Design Validation/Testing Co-op for Winter/Spring 2027. This six-month program offers hands-on engineering experience in RF front-end solutions and semiconductor testing, with on-site work in Irvine and start in January 2027.

You will support RF test evaluation of RFICs, perform tests, summarize results, and present data to design engineers, while gaining exposure to RF switches, filters, PA’s, LNAs and FEMs.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s or Master’s program and return to school after the Co-op.
  • Must work onsite January–June 2027.
  • Background in RF/microwave design and RF testing.
  • Proficient in data processing and presentation tools (Excel/PowerPoint; Matlab).

Responsibilities

  • You will support RF test evaluation of RFICs and multichip modules.
  • You will perform RF tests, evaluate and summarize results, and present data to design engineers.
  • You will also be involved in the design evaluation, simulation and debugging of RF switches, Filters, Couplers, PA's, LNA's and FEM's.

Description

The Mobile Solutions team located in Irvine is home to Skyworks' design center for RF front-end solutions, power amplifiers, switches and controllers for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WLAN and WiMAX applications. We have a challenging opportunity for a university student available for a 6-month Co-op starting in January 2027. As an RF Design Validation/Testing Co-op student, you will apply sound engineering skills to a variety of task and project assignments in the area of electronics, design engineering, and semiconductor component test development.

Responsibilities
  • You will support RF test evaluation of RFIC's and multichip modules.
  • You will perform RF tests, evaluate and summarize results, and present data to design engineers.
  • You will also be involved in the design evaluation, simulation and debugging of RF switches, Filters, Couplers, PA's, LNA's and FEM's.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Must be currently enrolledin an Electrical Engineering Bachelor or Master Degree’s program, andmust be returning to school after the completion of this Co-Op(will not consider graduated students)
  • Must work onsite January - June 2027
  • Requires background in RF/microwave design. Knowledgeable in RF testing and RF equipment setup.
  • The person should understand RF parameters and be able to communicate effectively.Knowledge in RF parameters (insertion loss, return loss, harmonics, IMD, IIP2/3, VSWR, NF, etc.) is an asset
  • RFIC Design and Simulation experience will be a plus
  • Experience in using RF equipment such as oscilloscope, VNA, spectrum analyzer, RF sources
  • Proficient in data processing and presentation tools such as Matlab, MS Excel and PowerPoint. Good data summary and presentation skills are desired
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and data organization
  • The student should be a self-starter and enjoy being hands-on
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
