Since then, we have produced ground‑breaking devices like Fire Tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Echo and E‑reader products. What will you help us create?

The Role

Hardware Quality Engineering Manager (QEM) is responsible for ensuring that our products are designed for quality. From the concept phase through NPI builds, you will establish risk assessments, set quality goals, investigate failures, implement corrective actions, and influence engineering teams for design improvements, with a focus on robust RF and antenna solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Understand technology and functionality of consumer electronic products and assess risk to prevent negative customer experience.
  • Be an expert in advanced quality methods and protocol.
  • Guide cross‑functional teams in Design for Quality initiatives.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of standards and company strategy to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Deliver solutions to complex problems through data analysis and forensics, making decisions based on partial information.
  • Communicate recommended solutions to the product development team and executive level.
  • Influence stakeholders across the company and align cross‑functionally to deliver on the quality policy.
  • Create standards and build consensus around them.
  • Set quality‑related functional milestones during NPI phases.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to onsite factories.
Export Control Requirement

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering, management, or technology field.
  • Experience with program and project management in a matrixed organization.
  • 5+ years of quality assurance engineering experience, or corresponding degree.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • 2+ years of practice experience with statistical tools and quality program management.
  • Familiar with NPI cycles and product development processes for consumer electronics industry.
  • Good understanding of electronic assembly processes for consumer electronics.
  • Ability to deliver solutions to complex problems through data analysis and forensics, using DMAIC.
  • Solid understanding of Lean and Six Sigma tools such as FMEA, DOE, MSA, ANOVA, hypothesis testing, value stream mapping, Pareto charts, Gage repeatability & reproducibility, Cpk.
  • Technical knowledge of conducting process audits and plans to drive continual quality improvements within factory operations.
  • Able to travel within China and South Asia Countries (including Vietnam).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • 2+ years antenna design experience related to 3G/4G technologies, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth products.
  • Experience with Data & AI technologies, including AI/ML, GenAI, analytics, database, and storage.
  • Master’s Degree in MSME, MSIE, MSEE, or MSCE.
  • Understanding of technology at system, commodity, device software, and product usability levels.
  • Design experience across Mechanical, Electrical, RF/Wireless, ICs, SOCs.
  • Language proficiency in Mandarin or Vietnamese is beneficial.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
