MACOM is a global leader in RF, microwave, and photonics technologies with over 75 years of expertise. The RF Product Modeling Intern will support development and validation of packaged RF product models used in circuit simulation and design.

The role offers hands-on experience with EM simulation tools, small-signal and large-signal models, RF measurement equipment, and model validation techniques, collaborating with experienced engineers during a 12-week program in Morrisville, NC.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Understanding of S-Parameters, impedance matching, transmission lines, and RF Power Amplifiers.
  • Experience with Keysight ADS and/or AWR Microwave Office EDA software.
  • Experience with EM simulation tools such as HFSS, RFPro, AXIEM.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and validation of packaged RF Product Models.
  • Perform EM simulations of passive structures including package, bondwires, and matching networks.
  • Correlate simulated model performance with measured S-Parameters and Large Signal data.
  • Develop and present Model Validation Reports.

RF Product Modeling Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated Product Modeling Intern to support the development and characterization of RF product models used in circuit simulation and product design. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced modeling and characterization engineers to develop accurate models for RF and microwave power amplifiers. This role provides hands‑on experience with EM simulation tools, small‑signal and large‑signal models, RF measurement equipment, and model validation techniques.

This position offers a unique opportunity to apply RF theory in a practical engineering environment while gaining experience with EDA and EM simulation tools.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and validation of packaged RF Product Models.
  • Perform EM simulations of passive structures including package, bondwires, and matching networks.
  • Correlate simulated model performance with measured S-Parameters and Large Signal data.
  • Develop and present Model Validation Reports.
Required Qualifications
  • Pursuing BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands on VNA experience calibrating and validating test bench setup.
  • Experience with S-Parameter and Large Signal measurements.

  • Be given an individual and well‑defined project with set outcome goals
  • Gain hands‑on experience
  • Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision
  • Be invited to attend an intern webinar series
  • Attend networking/social events
  • Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls
