Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. in Washington, DC, is seeking an RF Installer/Technician to lead on-site installations for RF antennas, cabling, and related hardware.

You will perform testing, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure system reliability while coordinating with project teams. Requirements include 2+ years of RF installation or field service experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to obtain DHS EOD clearance.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of RF installation or field service experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; electronics training preferred.
  • Experience with RF test/measurement tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Own tools and willingness to work at a DC-area site.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DHS EOD clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Install RF antennas, transmitters, receivers, cabling, and hardware.
  • Perform RF system testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and validation.
  • Install grounding, surge protection, and weatherproofing components.
  • Operate RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and SWR meters.
  • Provide technical support to customers or internal stakeholders during and after installation.
  • Identify installation issues and recommend technical solutions to improve reliability and performance.

Job description

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. (H&M’s) Chantilly office specializes in low voltage cabling to support enterprise, data centers, government, and medical facilities. We design and install multiple technologies and work throughout the DC Metro area. H&M is seeking several energetic, career-minded individuals to join our team working at a customer site in Washington, DC.

While working under the direction of the Team Lead, the RF Installer/Technician provides leadership and training to installers and junior technicians. Must rely upon experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish daily and weekly milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Install, align, and secure RF antennas, transmitters, receivers, cabling, and associated hardware
  • Perform RF system testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and validation to ensure optimal performance
  • Install grounding, surge protection, and weatherproofing components in alignment with safety codes
  • Operate RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and SWR meters
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FCC regulations, and company safety standards
  • Provide technical support to customers or internal stakeholders during and after installation
  • Identify installation issues and recommend technical solutions to improve reliability and performance

Hourly Rate $28.59 - $37.06 Depending Upon Experience.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in electronics or telecommunications preferred
  • Experience with RF system installation, telecommunications, or field service work
  • Ability to operate RF test and measurement tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and power tools
  • Experience installing wireless communications, satellite, 2-way radio, cellular, or broadband systems
  • Knowledge of cabling standards (fiber, coax, Cat5/6), grounding systems, and RF safety protocols
  • Experience with 4.3 and N type compression connectors
  • Flexibility with work hours; while this is a 40-hour-per-week position, some early deliveries may be required. General work hours are approximately 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain campus access and/or DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism with on-site teams and Project Managers
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform the necessary work while on the ladder
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry 25 lbs.
  • Must have own tools
