Job summary

Shield AI RF and Microwave Hardware Design Engineer position seeks a hands-on designer to craft compact RF modules for airborne and ground systems. The role emphasizes module design depth over high-level architecture, with potential levels of Engineer II (L2) or Senior Engineer (L3) based on demonstrated impact.

You will develop RF front-end assemblies, perform EM analysis, and work with cross-functional teams to meet stringent performance and environmental requirements in a lab setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ years post-undergraduate experience for L2, or 2+ years for L3; demonstrated capability matters.
• Hands-on experience designing or debugging an RF or microwave circuit, module, or PCB assembly.
• Strong understanding of S-parameters, impedance matching, and RF performance.

Responsibilities

• Design RF/microwave modules from requirements through schematic capture, layout, bring-up, verification, and production release.
• Develop RF front-end assemblies meeting gain, noise figure, output power, linearity, and efficiency requirements.
• Perform circuit and EM analysis using ADS, AWR, HFSS, or CST.
• Create RF/mixed-signal PCB designs with controlled impedance, grounding, shielding, and signal integrity considerations.
• Plan and execute laboratory characterization using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, avionics, and test engineers to integrate RF hardware within constraints.
