Job summary

Tower Semiconductor Newport Beach is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to drive the research and development of specialty process technologies in semiconductor manufacturing, focusing on RF SOI, RF CMOS, and SiGe BiCMOS. You will design test structures, lead integration, and analyze data to push tech innovations, with potential customer engagement and production transfers.

Qualifications

  • PhD preferred, Masters or Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or physics.
  • 3 years experience as a device engineer in the semiconductor industry, working with sub-micron devices.
  • Strong understanding of device physics, process integration, and characterization of CMOS or BiCMOS technologies.
  • Experience with RF-CMOS and SOI technologies is preferred.
  • Experience with RF characterization is a plus.
  • Experience with TCAD tools and Cadence Virtuoso a plus.

Job Description

You will be responsible for the research and development of specialty process technologies used in semiconductor manufacturing, specifically RF SOI, RF CMOS, and SiGe BiCMOS technologies. In this role, you will exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to drive innovation and technical excellence.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Designing test structures to support process development
  • Leading process integration efforts
  • Conducting process and device simulation
  • Analyzing experimental lot data to guide technology improvements
  • As an R&D Engineer, you may also engage directly with customers to understand their technical needs and collaborate on joint development initiatives.
This Job Is For You If
  • Lead various process technology development projects across the company's product lines and research new applications for its technology portfolio.
  • Design new devices and coordinate experiments for technology development and yield enhancement in state-of-the-annual RF and
  • High Performance Analog technologies.
  • Define process experiments, manage development and engineering wafers-in-process, and analyze parametric results while characterizing devices using DC and RF techniques.
  • Utilize TCAD tools to support device and process development.
  • Create and characterize test structures for device design and optimization.
  • Collaborate with the process engineering team to develop unit processes supporting new technologies.
  • Support customer engineering requests and communicate directly with customers as needed.
  • Support the transfer of newly developed processes into production.
Job Requirements
  • PhD preferred, Masters or Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or physics. RECENT PhD grads with experience in RF technologies/devices encouraged to apply.
  • 3 years experience as a device engineer in the semiconductor industry, working with sub-micron devices, is a requirement.
  • Strong understanding of device physics, process integration, and characterization of CMOS or BiCMOS technologies
  • Experience with RF-CMOS and SOI technologies is preferred.
  • Experience with RF characterization is a plus.
  • Experience with Synopsys TCAD tools and Cadence Virtuoso a plus.
  • Position requires very strong analytical and people skills.
  • Use of multi-disciplinary approaches to problem solving.
  • Competence in emerging technology areas important to Company.
  • Experience working with a semiconductor fab and fab environment.

Compensation: $140,000 - $156,000
