Job summary

Randstad is seeking a skilled RF Design Engineer in Alpharetta, GA for a 6-month duration, up to 30 months. The role requires contributing to the RF design of the regional cellular network and experience in designing CRAN networks.

Responsibilities

• Define search areas and collaborate with the performance team to identify sector issues.
• Coordinate with System Performance to reduce lost calls within the sector.
• Create cell-site translations and perform drive testing as needed.
• Prepare FCC/FAA submissions and perform radio engineering evaluations.
• Identify location-specific needs for new cells based on performance and capacity.
• Evaluate coverage problems and requirements for new coverage cells.

Job Title: RF Design Engineer

Duration: 6 months – can be extended up to 30 months

Location: Alpharetta, GA

Job Description

Responsible for contributing to the RF design of the regional cellular network. Requires experience designing CRAN networks with a mix of macros and small cells, and designing small cells in various high‑traffic hotspot areas. Must be proficient in RF network design using the latest cost‑effective technologies and techniques, working with Ericsson RAN, antennas, and radios. Should understand how to design a site optimally based on capacity, performance, and coverage, and be able to balance cost with technical decisions such as 4xRx, 4xTx, and the number of LTE carriers.

Responsibilities

• Define search areas within the geographic area of responsibility and collaborate with the performance team to identify issues within the sector.
• Coordinate with the System Performance counterpart to reduce lost calls and ineffective attempts within the sector.
• Create and supply cell‑site translations and perform drive testing to evaluate search‑area candidates as needed.
• Prepare FCC/FAA and FAS submissions in a timely manner and perform radio engineering evaluation for system planning and site acquisition.
• Identify location‑specific needs for new cells, considering baseline performance, capacity, and population data.
• Evaluate and address coverage problems and requirements for coverage cells.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
• 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering concepts and a demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn and advance in a technical field.
• Knowledge of CDMA, LTE/VoLTE, link budgets, and industry-standard RF prediction/propagation tools; experience with Siterra and MapInfo is a plus.
• Proficiency with office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
