Job summary

Firefly Aerospace Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Systems Engineer (RF Focus) for launch vehicles. You will design, develop, test, and obtain approvals for RF transmission and communication systems across launch vehicles and ground stations.

You will lead projects, define tasks, track progress, and interface with regulatory agencies while collaborating with all teams. Responsibilities include managing component acquisition and subcontractors, coordinating design and test activities,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in electronics systems with RF focus.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with focus on communications, microwave, or satellites is preferred.
  • Experience with flight vehicle RF transmission systems design and analysis is required.
  • Experience with RF ground station design and operation is required.
  • Experience with project management and leading small teams is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience integrating electronics in airborne vehicles.
  • Knowledge of launch vehicle subsystems and avionics interfaces with RF systems.
  • Experience with environmental tests (thermal, vacuum, shock, vibration, humidity, salt fog).
  • Familiarity with BER, SNR, EVM, OSI layers and link margin analyses.
  • Proficiency in Python, GNURadio, or LabVIEW and related software.
  • Experience with RF forward error correction and modulation types.
  • Experience with test equipment such as network analyzers and signal generators.
  • Communication/docs using Atlassian tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop flight RF systems and ground receiving stations.
  • Coordinate acquisition of components and subcontractors.
  • Lead in-house design, development, and testing tasks to meet schedules.
  • Coordinate with government agencies to obtain approvals.
  • Manage team efforts to complete project tasks.
  • Support vehicle testing and launch day activities as RF expert.
  • Support launch operations and RF communications as needed.
  • Support hardware simulations to test end-to-end RF systems.
