Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an RF Antenna Systems & Hardware Engineer to advance antenna modeling, measurement, and hardware development for next-generation sensor systems. You will design, analyze, and optimize RF apertures and phased arrays, then build and test RF hardware to demonstrate new concepts.

You will lead measurements, prototype integration, and collaboration with engineers to translate results into system-level designs and sponsor

Qualifications

  • Master's in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent with EM/RF concentration.
  • 3+ years of antenna or RF aperture modeling, test, and measurement experience.
  • Experience with commercial EM software (HFSS, FEKO, CST, ADS) or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience developing/integrating antenna RF hardware and basic prototyping.
  • Strong MATLAB or Python skills for data processing, visualization, automation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply antenna and RF aperture modeling and simulation tools to design and analyze performance across scenarios.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze antenna and RF aperture measurements in lab, chamber, and field environments.
  • Lead rapid prototyping and integration of antenna systems and RF hardware with RF front ends and SDRs.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to translate results into system-level recommendations and briefs.
