Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an RF Engineer to advance non-kinetic engagement strategies and analyze RF, EW, and HPM systems for missile defense. The role involves system-level RF analysis, modeling, testing, and collaboration with systems and sensor experts.

You will work with a team of engineers and scientists in the A4H Applied Technologies and Threat Engineering Group, contributing to concept design, requirements definition, and end-to-end testing

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree required in EE, Math, Physics, or related field.
  • At least 4 years in high power microwave, electronic warfare, RF systems, or related area.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, Java, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level RF analysis, including link budgets and propagation effects.
  • Evaluate lethality and effectiveness of RF, EW, and HPM systems against threats through experiments, simulation, and analysis.
  • Propose, analyze, and test novel RF concepts at the system level, including waveforms and hardware designs.
  • Understand kill chain integration of RF, EW, and HPM systems with systems engineers and sensor experts.
  • As needed, perform SDR, RF circuit, amplifier, and antenna design, simulation, development and test.
