Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a Revenue Recovery specialist to verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations for Medicare and non Medicare patient accounts. You will review batch eligibility responses and denial reports to ensure accurate coverage information and minimize write-offs.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with post-secondary training in medical billing/collections and experience with payor verification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary education or training in business or medical billing/collections preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify new payor and verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
• Verify eligibility and benefits for patients on batch eligibility responses and weekly denial reports.
• Obtain initial authorization when required while maintaining confidentiality.
• Enter coordination notes to notify Payor Change Moves Specialists when a payor change is confirmed.
• Communicate with Revenue Recovery and branch staff about insurance coverage impacting care or reimbursement.
• Assist in efficient collection of client and payor information to ensure accuracy.
• Work to reduce write-offs by completing new payor verification within required timeframes.
• Comply with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including the Compliance Program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsible for verifying insurance eligibility and obtaining required authorization for Medicare and Non Medicare patient accounts identified to have possible coverage eligibility changes found through batch eligibility responses, reverification projects, and claim denials.

Responsibilities

• Identifies new payor and verifies insurance eligibility status and benefit details for patients returned on batch eligibility responses.
• Identifies new payor and verifies insurance eligibility status and benefit details for patients returned on weekly claim denial report.
• Obtains initial authorization when required while maintaining compliance to medical record confidentiality regulations.
• Enters applicable coordination notes in billing and collections system to provide notification to Payor Change Moves Specialist(s) when a payor change is confirmed.
• Communicates directly with other members of Revenue Recovery and branch staff to provide insurance coverage information that may impact patient care, reimbursement, or patient financial liability.
• Assists the department in efficient collection of client and payor information to ensure accuracy.
• Works to reduce write-offs by completing new payor verification and authorization requirements in assigned timeframe.
• Complies with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including but not limited to abiding to the terms of the Amedisys Compliance Program.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Post-secondary education or training in business or medical billing/collections.

Preferred

• Two (2+) years' experience in medical office/home health benefit verification.
• Homecare Homebase experience
