We are looking for teammates who are:

What you will do:

Collect debts due the state and enforce tax laws in a professional manner.

Primary job duties include:

  • Collecting/resolving debt and enforcing tax laws in routine cases through research and taxpayer contact/follow-up, with a focus on the security of taxpayer data.
  • Assisting in prioritizing accounts in collection status by managing assigned case load and determining urgency using established selection criteria.
  • Preparing/submitting required reports, with guidance.
  • Assisting in providing taxpayer assistance to include:
    • Providing basic assistance and referring taxpayers to use our free online tax portal (MyDORWAY)
    • Processing Business Tax Applications
    • Filing basic returns (current and delinquent)
    • Adjusting/issuing assessmentsand liens
  • Assisting in performing inspections of Sales, Coin Operated Device (COD), and Admissions licenses.
  • Assisting with writing violations to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Developing, updating, and reviewing section procedures.

Either:

  1. A bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant work experience OR
  2. An associate's degree in a business-related field and two years of relevant work experience OR
  3. Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)


Additional requirement:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for field work

Examples of common business or related degrees include accounting, advertising, criminal justice, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, health care management, hospitality management, human resources, information technology management, marketing, organizational leadership, public relations, taxation, etc.

  • Hours: Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).
  • Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.

  • Retirement: This position falls under the Police Officers Retirement System
