As a Revenue Investigator, you will be part of an accredited law enforcement agency consisting of nine total law enforcement officers and additional support staff. Revenue Investigators enforce statutes under the jurisdiction of the Tax Commissioner including laws related to: keno and other forms of charitable gaming; skill devices; and sales and income tax programs. Investigators also ensure the security and integrity of the Nebraska Lottery, provide for the safety of DOR employees, and work proactively with their counterparts in federal, state, and local law enforcement on a wide variety of matters. This is an armed law enforcement position, and the incumbent will be appointed as a Special Deputy State Sheriff with state-wide jurisdiction. This position involves extensive investigative work in the field, including interviewing suspects, victims, and witnesses. You will also participate in numerous law enforcement task forces and inter‑agency work groups. Due to the highly mobile nature of the position, you will be provided with a take‑home state vehicle to be used in your official duties. All other duty equipment will be provided including, but not limited to: a duty firearm, state cell phone, customized ballistic vest, and a Motorola radio with access to the Nebraska Statewide Radio System. While the duties are varied, you will be provided with an extensive training program over the first several weeks. You will also have a team of seven other Investigators and the Investigations Supervisor to offer assistance and guidance, plus countless other professionals throughout the DOR who are invested in your success. Likewise, the Investigations Section also emphasizes continuous professional development. Overtime is rarely, if ever, necessary. The occasional out‑of‑state travel will be required, including to the Lottery vendor’s scratch ticket facility in Lakeland, Florida. You will also have the option to attend regional law enforcement conferences held throughout the country. Your supervisor will work proactively with you to ensure that all travel is conducted within the framework of a 40 hour per week schedule.
