**The Department does NOT sponsor Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Optional Practical Training (OPT) (Form I-983) or non-immigrant work visas for this position.** This position is a 100% "working in office" position. If you have an interest in the world of gaming, a desire to learn something challenging, and are ready to shape an evolving industry, then this position in the Nebraska Department of Revenue’s Charitable Gaming Division may be a perfect fit for you. The ideal candidate will be a member of a small team who works with individuals, entities, and taxpayers involved in the cash device program. This will involve working within established procedures and guidelines to process applications, researching and resolving issues with applications, and assisting with the collection of taxes. Work may also involve assisting in other areas the Division oversees, including bingo, pickle cards, keno, and lotteries/raffles. This Division is not involved with the regulation of the State’s licensed racetrack casinos. Location: 137 NW 17th St. (Lincoln).
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in business; OR two years of experience with tax return preparation, business ownership and operation, account research and analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules, or regulations.
Knowledge of: basic mathematics and accounting; business operations and practices; resources available for researching laws, rules, and regulations.
Ability to: communicate over the telephone and email to express clear and concise ideas; relate effectively with people representing a wide variety of backgrounds; use deductive techniques to determine information sought; organize and verify data/information from computer generated reports (spreadsheet); set priorities; interpret difficult tax programs for taxpayers; work independently.
