Job summary

Responsibilities

• Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
• Reconcile payment activity and track AR related data.
• Follow up on payer denials and outstanding documents.
• Prepare and review reports and tracking tools (e.g., AR reports, posting ledgers).
• Provide billing support across departments and answer patient inquiries.
• Maintain billing for non-insurance contracts and cross-coverage as needed.

Join Our Team at Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc.We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Revenue Cycle Specialist I who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and supporting efficient billing processes while contributing to positive patient and team experience.This position primarily focuses on accurately posting insurance and patient payments, reconciling payment activity, and working payer denials to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.Key ResponsibilitiesWork proficiently within assigned revenue cycle functionsTrack missing documentation and ensure timely follow-up with providers, staff, and insurance companiesMaintain assigned productivity standardsSupport the Revenue Cycle Team Lead as neededPrepare, review, and maintain reports and tracking tools (e.g., AR reports, posting ledgers, holding tanks)Provide feedback to providers, clinical staff, and operations teamsCollaborate across departments to support communication and workflow efficiencyAnswer patient calls and assist with billing-related inquiriesContact insurance companies to resolve denials and other issuesMaintain billing for non-insurance contractsProvide cross-coverage support for other revenue cycle teams as neededRequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; 1–2 years of medical billing experience preferredCertified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferredProficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams; experience with systems like NextGen (electronic health records) preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work collaboratively and maintain productivity standardsPositive attitude and alignment with Valley-Wide’s missionLocation & Type of Job: This is a full-time, onsite position based in Alamosa, Colorado.Why Join Valley-Wide?Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered healthcare to all individuals across our multi-county service area in southern Colorado.
