About the Role
Operations Manager – Patient Engagement (Healthcare Collections) Location: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid (2 days in office per week) Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Responsibilities
- Oversee and enhance up-front patient payment collection strategies, focusing on efficiency and compliance.
- Train and mentor staff on best practices for collections.
- Manage relationships with external collection agencies and monitor their performance.
- Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient collections.
- Prepare and present regular reports on collection performance to senior leadership.
- Lead a team of collection specialists, conducting performance reviews and fostering a positive work environment.
- Monitor patient communication platforms (text, phone, email, statements) and ensure clear, compassionate financial communications.
- Ensure all collection activities comply with current laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline billing and collection processes.
- Address and resolve patient billing inquiries and disputes professionally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in medical billing and patient collections, with at least three years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare billing software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, manage KPIs, and implement corrective action plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally, with occasional overnight or air travel for conferences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead a team, and drive results in a dynamic environment.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of healthcare billing software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
