Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Director of Operations for the Clinical Business Office (CBO) to lead day-to-day billing operations, develop policies, and optimize revenue management, including net collection ratio and days in A/R. The role requires strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-department collaboration with clinical administrators, IT, and billing staff.

The position emphasizes policy development, technology utilization, and regulatory compliance across revenue cycle functions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
• 10+ years effective experience in health care reimbursement, billing, claims processing, departmental operations and contract management, with evidence of strong skills in communications and management.

Responsibilities

• Develops strategies to improve cash collections and net collection rate.
• Increases compliance with third party contract terms and recovers underpayments; reduces denials and ensures timely repayment of credit balances.
• Develops and implements policies, procedures, and workflows for revenue cycle operations; establishes output metrics and quality audits.
• Reviews and evaluates records and activities impacting the reimbursement process.
• Provides feedback to billing staff and practice staff; recognizes improvements in revenue results.
• Develops, implements and manages reports related to billing and collections.
• Oversees GE/IDX system applications upgrades and conversions to maximize cash flow.
• Monitors denial rates and guides practices in reducing denials, especially in referrals and authorization processes.
• Ensures revenue cycle complies with regulations by developing operational policies.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.
