Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a Coder / Billing Analyst to optimize revenue from off-site ED encounters by reviewing documentation and assigning ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT procedures.

You will perform charge entry, conduct billing audits, and educate staff on coding processes to improve accuracy and compliance. This role supports Summa's commitment to excellent patient service and high-quality financial operations.

Qualifications

• Formal Education Required: RHIT (or eligible) or CCS, COC or CPC with 60%+ on outpatient coding test.
• OR CCA with 1 year outpatient coding experience and related coursework.
• Two years outpatient coding experience including ED services.
• Experience with the billing process preferred.
• Ability to prioritize, review documentation, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Optimizes revenue from off-site ED by reviewing documentation and assigning codes.
• Code diagnoses (ICD-10) and procedures (CPT) for ED encounters.
• Provide feedback on missed charge opportunities based on documentation.
• Perform charge entry and billing audits; review processes and staff education.
• Assign outpatient procedural charges (e.g., Infusion/Injection) for observation encounters.
• Ensure coding quality and productivity within six months; work with team.
