Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. seeks a Revenue Recognition expert to lead ASC 606 compliant processes in a Utah-based role. You will oversee design-build activities, integration testing, and deployment readiness, driving accurate revenue recognition across releases.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in revenue recognition, SAP experience (RAR, FI), and strong cross-functional communication to ensure timely financial close. This role is on-site in Lehi, UT with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of domain expertise in Revenue Recognition; ASC 606 understanding.
  • Experience with at least 2 full SAP implementations (preferably S/4HANA).

Responsibilities

  • Attend design workshops and help disposition requirements.
  • Break larger items into smaller tasks by functionality.
  • Support Lead in identifying fit to standard and readiness items.
  • Define ready-for-work items for the build pipeline.
  • Assist in estimating work and acceptance criteria input.
  • Define automated test scripts for validation.
  • Translate requirements into functional/technical designs.
  • Build configurations and decompose requirements into tasks.
  • Report daily status and maintain design-build plans.
  • Participate in demos of working software to stakeholders.
  • Perform functional testing.
  • Participate in integration testing and verify build goals.
  • Drive defects to closure and support data migration.
  • Assist in change management and training for readiness.
  • Execute readiness and deployment tasks for the process team.
  • Transition the solution to the support team.
  • Support revenue close activities and GAAP revenue recognition controls.
  • Review contracts and provide accounting guidance as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvements and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend design workshops and help disposition requirements.
  • Help break larger work items into smaller tasks based on functionality.
  • Support the Functional Lead and Subprocess Lead in identifying fit to standard.
  • Contribute to the definition of ready-for-work items to be slotted into a build.
  • Participate in estimating work items and provide input for acceptance criteria.
  • Define automated test scripts.
  • Design / Build
  • Translate requirements into the "How" by helping to create functional/technical designs.
  • Build working software (configuration) and decompose requirements into actionable tasks with estimated effort.
  • Report daily status, impediments, and maintain Design-Build plan accuracy.
  • Participate in demos to show working software to the Subprocess Owner.
  • Perform functional testing.

  • Participate in integration testing and verify delivered requirements against build goals.
  • Drive testing defects to closure.
  • Support data migration efforts and provide insights on master data related to performance obligations, deferred revenue, and contract balances.
  • Assist in training and change management initiatives to ensure business readiness.
  • Deploy
  • Execute select readiness and deployment tasks for the process team.
  • Transition the solution to the support team.
  • Execute monthly revenue close activities, including revenue allocation calculations, journal entry preparation, reconciliations, control execution, and preparation/review of auditable workpapers.
  • Ensure revenue recognition in financial statements is compliant with US GAAP (ASC 606). Interpret revenue arrangements, assess accounting implications, and document conclusions.
  • Support quarterly reporting requirements, including preparation of materials for CAO/CFO quarterly readouts.
  • Execute SOX controls related to revenue recognition, documentation, and evidence retention; partner with Internal and External Audit to support walkthroughs, testing, and control enhancements.
  • Monitor daily revenue transactions and review non-standard requests, including assessment of payment terms, return rights, and contractual provisions.
  • Review customer contract terms, provide proactive accounting guidance, and approve final contract documents as needed.
  • Support process, policy, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability; assist in developing and maintaining process documentation for revenue close procedures.
  • Contribute to ad hoc, company, or department-level projects and cross-functional initiatives as required.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of domain expertise in Revenue Recognition; strong understanding of ASC 606, performance obligations, and deferred revenue.
  • Supported at least 2 full-cycle SAP implementations (preferably S/4HANA).
  • Hands-on working experience in SAP, specifically in Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR) and FI modules.
  • Collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: able to logically break a problem into smaller, manageable parts to solve.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership across stakeholder teams, identify impediments, and resolve risks to drive timely resolution.
