Job summary

Vaco is seeking an experienced Interim Revenue Accountant to support a healthcare organization's Revenue Accounting team in Long Beach, CA. You will manage complex revenue entries, reconciliations, and month-end close, and contribute to financial analyses and audits.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 4+ years in accounting with explicit revenue experience, healthcare/Medicare knowledge, and strong Excel skills; SQL/Access is highly desirable to handle large data sets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• 4+ years of Accounting/Finance experience.
• 2+ years of revenue accounting experience preferred.
• Healthcare and Medicare experience required.
• Strong journal entries, GL, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills; SQL/Access query experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries across multiple revenue streams.
• Perform complex revenue reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Analyze revenue results and provide insights to Accounting leadership.
• Support month-end close, including revenue accruals and membership reporting.
• Perform revenue analyses including rate/volume and per-member analyses.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for audits (external/internal/regulatory).
• Maintain data integrity between revenue systems and the GL.
• Analyze balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow impacts from revenue activity.
• Develop queries, analytical tools, and models for financial analysis.
• Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Actuarial, Enrollment/Reconciliation, and Data Warehouse teams.
• Assist with Medicare/CMS, DHCS, premium billing, risk score accruals, and revenue recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries across multiple revenue streams.
• Perform complex revenue reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Analyze revenue results and provide insights and recommendations to Accounting leadership.
• Support month-end close, including revenue accruals, membership reporting, and reconciliation activities.
• Perform actual-to-budget and actual-to-forecast revenue analysis, including rate/volume and per-member analysis.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external, internal, and regulatory audits.
• Maintain data integrity between revenue systems and the general ledger.
• Analyze balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow impacts related to revenue activity.
• Develop queries, analytical tools, and models to support financial analysis.
• Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Actuarial, Enrollment/Reconciliation, and Data Warehouse teams.
• Assist with healthcare-specific revenue streams, including Medicare/CMS, DHCS, premium billing, risk score accruals, and revenue recovery activities.
