Job summary

American Expedition Vehicles seeks a detail-oriented Returns Processor to inspect, sort, and process customer returns in our warehouse. You will verify contents against packing slips, assess condition, and determine disposition: resellable, refurbishable, vendor return, warranty, or scrap.

Work with customer service on fitment disputes and warranty eligibility, flag recurring defects, and assist with receiving incoming parts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in automotive parts, auto retail, or warehouse environment strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of automotive parts terminology and basic fitment concepts.
• Basic computer skills, including data entry and inventory management systems.
• Strong attention to detail, especially with part numbers and compatibility.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unpack customer returns; verify contents against system and packing slips.
• Inspect returned products for damage, wear, missing hardware/components, or signs of improper installation.
• Identify and sort items for disposition: resellable, refurbishable, vendor return, warranty, or scrap.
• Repackage items for restocking, vendor return, or warranty claims.
• Coordinate with customer service and product teams on fitment disputes or warranty eligibility.
• Flag recurring defects, packaging issues, or vendor quality concerns to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe returns area, including handling hazardous materials.
• Operate warehouse equipment as needed (hand trucks, pallet jacks, label printers, barcode scanners).
• Assist with the receipt of incoming parts as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Manage the inspection, sorting, and processing of customer-returns. Assists in maintaining inventory accuracy, verifying part compatibility and fitment issues, minimizing loss, and ensuring customers receive timely refunds, exchanges, or warranty resolutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receive and unpack customer returns verify contents against system and packing slips
• Inspect returned products for damage, wear, missing hardware/components, or signs of improper installation
• Identify & Sort items so they may be properly disposition: resellable, refurbishable, vendor return, warranty, or scrap
• Repackage items appropriately for restocking, vendor return, or manufacturer warranty claims
• Coordinate with customer service and product teams on fitment disputes, installation-related damage claims, or warranty eligibility
• Flag recurring defects, packaging issues, or vendor quality concerns to management
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe returns area, including proper handling of any hazardous materials (e.g., fluids, batteries)
• Operate warehouse equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, label printers, barcode scanners) as needed
• Assist with the receipt of incoming parts as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Experience with barcode scanners and warehouse management software (WMS)

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Continuous (6 to 8 hours) standing and repetitive motions, including bending, squatting, twisting, pushing, and pulling
• Good hand and eye coordination
• Required to repetitively lift from 5 to 50 lbs. including reaching above shoulder level, at and below waist level depending on the job
• Hand dexterity and strength to include simple grasping, power grasping, and fine motor skill manipulation.
• Safety equipment provided based on the specific job.
