Job summary

Four Hands, a furniture company based in Austin, Texas, seeks a Returns Associate to support our inbound and outbound operations in the warehouse. You will receive, inspect, and process returned items, document findings, and help maintain a clean, organized receiving area while following SOPs and safety standards.

The role requires attention to detail and physical stamina in a fast-paced environment. Shift is 7AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday, with training provided and opportunities to grow

Qualifications

• 1+ year of warehouse or distribution center experience.
• Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with warehouse scanners.
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and offload inbound returned items according to SOPs.
• Inspect and document returned materials as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe receiving area following 5S standards.
• Accurately put away inventory into designated locations based on grading.
• Follow scanning, labeling and documentation standards.
• Manage inventory within the Returns department using proper scanning procedures.
• Perform cycle counts, audits, and inventory updates.
• Assist in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies.
• Sort recyclable materials by type and operate recycling equipment if trained.

We’re on the lookout for a Returns Associate to support the efficient processing of returned inventory while helping drive sustainability through recycling operations. In this role, you’ll receive, inspect, process, and manage returned goods while ensuring all activities align with established SOPs, safety standards, and 5S practices. You’ll also serve as a key resource for associates within the workflow, helping keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Shift Time: 7AM - 4PM, Monday to Friday

In This Role

• Serve as the first point of contact for associates regarding operational questions, task clarification, and SOP guidance
• Support workflow continuity by helping resolve minor process and operational challenges
• Receive and offload inbound returned items in accordance with company SOPs
• Inspect and document returned materials as required
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving area, including post-unload cleanup
• Accurately put away inventory into designated storage locations based on grading and product categorization
• Follow all scanning, labeling, and documentation standards
• Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the putaway process
• Manage inventory within the Returns department using proper scanning and tracking procedures
• Perform cycle counts, audits, and inventory updates to ensure accuracy
• Assist in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies
• Pick, stage, and load Outlet and Donation outbound orders following required SOPs and documentation
• Ensure products are handled with care and staged correctly for pickup or transfer
• Clean and reset work areas after outbound operations
• Sort recyclable materials by type (plastic, metal, wood, foam, etc.) and remove contaminants or hazardous items
• Operate recycling equipment such as balers, compactors, shredders, grinders, and forklifts (if trained)
• Maintain recycling work areas using 5S standards and assist with basic equipment upkeep
• Other duties as assigned, in accordance with training and qualifications

The Ideal Person

• 1+ year of warehouse or distribution center experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with warehouse systems or scanners
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move larger items with assistance
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
• Willingness to operate warehouse equipment (training provided)
• Commitment to safety and following established procedures
• Steel-toed boots or shoes are required during work hours
