Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Retort Operator to oversee the cooking process ensuring complete sterilization and high product quality.

You will load/unload trays, load recipes from LCD menus, and schedule workloads for retort ovens. You will monitor PSI, temperature (F) and water flow, logging each batch and maintaining accurate records for computer entry.

Work involves standing for long periods and exposure to heat, cold, vibrations, fumes, and noise with proper PPE and safety training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load the appropriate recipe on the retort oven via LCD menu.
• Load/unload trays into the retort oven.
• Schedule workload for loading the retort ovens.
• Monitor gauges for PSI, temperature (°F) and water flow; adjust to maintain specifications.
• Log each batch and count trays in the retort log and count sheet for computer entry.
• Verify log sheets for accuracy during and after shifts.

Job description

The Retort Operator is to oversee and guide the cooking process to ensure that the product is completely sterilized and of the highest quality.

Job Responsibilities:

• Accessing menus on a LCD screen to load the appropriate recipe on the retort oven.
• Loading/unloading trays of food into the retort oven.
• Scheduling workload in loading the retort ovens.
• Overseeing the cooking process by watching the cooking gauges for pressure measured in PSI, temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, and water flow in gallons per minute. Watching for variances in three factors and making any necessary adjustments to compensate accordingly.
• Logging every batch (start/stop times), loading number of trays in the retort log and the count sheet for computer entry.
• Verifying the log sheet throughout their shift and at the end of the shift for accuracy.
• Perform other duties as listed on SWES and/or training register

The employee will work near moving mechanical parts and can be regularly exposed to extreme hot or cold. The employee is constantly exposed to vibrations. The employee is also exposed to fumes, or airborne particles. The work environment can be noisy and/ or moderately loud. Some personal protective equipment may be mandatory depending on location.

Physical Requirements:

Work requires standing and/or walking for periods of eight hours or more, moving and examining objects at high and low reach, and reading for periods of three hours or more. Refer to the Physical Job Description for a full listing.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. In addition, 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
