Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the retirement plan industry.
  • FINRA Series 65 required or to be attained within 90 days of employment.
  • Project management skills and account management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact to retirement plan clients; delivering guidance on investments, plan design, and fiduciary best practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive plan reviews, including investment performance analysis, fee benchmarking, and compliance oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists to implement plan enhancements and participant engagement strategies.
  • Lead client meetings and enrollment sessions; manage the client meeting calendar and cadence.
  • Maintain deep understanding of ERISA regulations to ensure compliance and informed clients.
  • Travel to client sites for relationship management and strategic planning as needed.

Job description

The Retirement Plan Manager serves as a trusted advisor to employer-sponsored retirement plan clients, delivering strategic guidance on investment selection, plan design optimization, and fiduciary oversight. This role blends deep industry knowledge with consultative expertise to help plan sponsors achieve their retirement plan goals. By proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, benchmarking plan performance, and navigating regulatory requirements, the Retirement Plan Manager ensures clients receive tailored solutions that enhance participant outcomes and mitigate fiduciary risk.

Essential Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the primary contact to retirement plan clients. Delivering guidance on investment selection, plan design optimization, and fiduciary best practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive plan reviews, including investment performance analysis, fee benchmarking, and compliance oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists to implement plan enhancements such as vendor transitions, contribution structure changes, and participant engagement strategies.
  • Lead client meetings and presentations, including enrollment sessions, employee education meetings, and committee reviews.
  • Maintain and proactively coordinate the client meeting calendar and cadence, ensuring timely execution of both regular and ad hoc activities such as plan reviews, RFP processes, target date fund (TDF) analyses, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of ERISA regulations and industry trends to ensure clients remain compliant and informed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve plan outcomes and mitigate fiduciary risk through proactive consultation and data-driven recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, resolving issues efficiently and escalating complex matters when necessary.
  • Support adoption of new products, platforms, and services that align with client goals and improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to enhance service delivery, streamline processes, and elevate the client experience.
  • Occasionally travel to client sites for relationship management, presentations, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Supports and demonstrates IMA's core values.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 2+ years related experience in the retirement plan industry.
  • Maintains FINRA Series 65 or attains within 90 days of employment.
