Defined Contribution Consultant
We are seeking an experienced Defined Contribution Consultant to lead complex consulting engagements involving defined contribution and nonqualified retirement plans. This role is ideal for a seasoned retirement professional with strong technical expertise, client advisory skills, and the ability to effectively solve complex plan and operational challenges.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the lead consultant for teams block of clients.
- Advise plan sponsors on retirement plan administration, compliance, operational strategy, and third-party vendor management.
- Lead consulting projects involving:
- Plan design
- Recordkeeper and vendor management
- Vendor searches and RFPs
- Fee benchmarking
- Plan transitions
- Compliance reviews
- Administrative improvements
- Prepare and present clear recommendations, analysis, and project updates to plan sponsors, executive teams, committees, and other client stakeholders.
- Guide clients through plan audits, compliance issues, operational questions, corrective-action planning, and changing regulatory or legislative requirements.
- Manage retirement plan transitions related to corporate acquisitions and divestitures.
- Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and communication schedules while ensuring work is accurate, timely, and aligned with client expectations.
- Coordinate internal resources and team members to successfully move client projects forward.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships while providing a high level of service and support.
- Establish effective communication and meeting cadences to ensure clients remain informed throughout projects and engagements.
- Mentor and share technical expertise with developing team members.
- Identify and thoughtfully implement AI-enabled process improvements when they provide meaningful value and align with client needs and privacy requirements.
- Assist with special projects and other initiatives as assigned.
A Successful Candidate Will Bring
- 8+ years of progressive experience in defined contribution and/or nonqualified retirement plan consulting required.
- Strong working knowledge of 401(k), nonqualified, and deferred compensation plans.
- Knowledge of 403(b), 457(b), and pension plans is a plus.
- Strong understanding of retirement plan regulations and the ability to resolve data discrepancies, compliance issues, and operational challenges.
- Proven ability to lead multiple complex client projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work on time.
- Strong client relationship management, written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex retirement plan concepts clearly and confidently to plan sponsors, committees, executives, and other nontechnical stakeholders.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player who can effectively coordinate with others in a dynamic environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technology.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required.
- Relevant retirement plan certifications or professional designations preferred.
Work Location
- 100% onsite in the office, five days per week.
- Must be willing and able to travel for client meetings as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation depending on experience - 80k-130k+ bonus + benefits
