Job description

Retirement Plan Consultant, Employer-Sponsored Plans

CPS, Inc. | Retirement Plan Services | Reports to Advisory Leadership

Remote or Corporate Headquarters (Massachusetts) | Full-Time

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000, plus benefits and incentive opportunities

About The Role

Do you advise employers on their retirement plans? We’re looking for a Retirement Plan Consultant to join our Retirement Plan Services team, working with plan sponsors on the investment and compliance side of their plans and with their employees on the participant side. This is a hybrid sales and service role, with the emphasis on sales and business development.

This is a role for someone whose career is in the workplace retirement plan space, helping companies run better plans and helping participants use them well. It is not a wealth management or individual financial planning role. Your clients are plan sponsors and their employees, not households.

What You’ll Do

Advise Plan Sponsors

  • Partner with retirement plan advisors on prospecting, proposals, presentations, and follow-up

  • Prepare plan design studies, fee and vendor analyses, and investment and fiduciary-focused materials

  • Join prospect, client, and distribution partner meetings

  • Help sponsors understand their plan’s investment lineup, fiduciary responsibilities, and compliance obligations

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships

  • Participate in directly sourced plan sales under firm leadership, as licensing and experience permit

Support Participants

  • Help deliver enrollment and education meetings and answer participant questions about their plan

  • Explain plan features, investment options, and retirement readiness in clear, practical terms

Manage Relationships

  • Serve as a point of contact for client inquiries, service requests, and issue resolution

  • Prepare client reports, review meeting materials, and communications

  • Coordinate with recordkeepers, TPAs, and internal teams to meet client needs

  • Keep leads, opportunities, and client activity current in the CRM

  • Stay current on retirement plan rules and regulations, and pursue relevant industry designations

What You Bring

  • Active Series 65 license, or Series 7 and 66 (required)

  • 2+ years of experience in the retirement plan industry, working with plan sponsors on plan investments, plan design, or compliance

  • Working knowledge of ERISA, fiduciary concepts, and plan investment oversight

  • Experience with participant-facing work, such as enrollment or education meetings

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Comfort with the sales process, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate well with a team

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience

You may be asked to obtain state life insurance licenses after hire. The firm supports continued professional development and the pursuit of retirement industry designations (such as CPFA, QKA, or similar).

Compensation & Work Environment

The salary range is $75,000 - $95,000, based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities. The total package includes benefits and the opportunity to participate in incentive or commission programs, as well as retention of advisory fees. The position can be fully remote or based at our corporate headquarters in Massachusetts. Occasional travel may be required.
