Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Human Resources Specialist to administer retirement benefits for more than 4,200 employees and to liaise with the Office of State Uniform Payroll, state retirement systems, and the Louisiana Deferred Compensation Plan.

The role reports to the HR Manager A in Payroll / Benefits and requires analytical, customer-focused communication as well as the ability to explain complex retirement and benefits information.

Qualifications

  • Six years of human resources experience OR six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years HR
  • Bachelor’s degree plus three years HR experience OR advanced degree in HR/related field plus two years HR experience
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR may substitute for up to one year of required experience

Responsibilities

  • Advise employees and retirees on retirement eligibility, options, survivor benefits, and related matters
  • Research and resolve discrepancies involving retirement earnings and contributions
  • Serve as liaison to state payroll, retirement systems, and the Louisiana Deferred Compensation Plan
  • Review and audit retirement documents for accuracy before submission
  • Develop retirement guidance, forms, training materials, and procedures; conduct trainings
