Job description

Empire Distributors Inc, A Leading Beverage Distributor, is hiring a Retail Wine Sales Representative - Total Wine, Wilmington N.C. Sales Territory Includes: Jacksonville, Sneads Ferry, and Surf City.

Summary

This training position supports the Sales Manager and sales team in daily duties; sells and merchandises wine, malt beverages, and non-alcoholic beverages to retail outlets for wholesale distribution. Coverage includes Retail Sales Routes/Accounts assigned by the District Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Service and maintain current accounts, process orders, and provide courteous customer service, including store resets as needed.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for sales leads.
  • Travel within the assigned territory, including remote areas, to call on customers, solicit orders, merchandise, set up displays, and handle damages or product issues.
  • Quote prices and payment terms for orders.
  • Manage responsibilities with local chains, including cluster sales and price submissions as directed by the Manager.
  • Estimate delivery dates based on production and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with the District Manager to resolve customer issues.
  • Investigate and resolve delivery problems.
  • Respond to customer needs proactively.
  • Maintain communication with drivers, supervisors, managers, and the general manager.
  • Execute sales plans and maintain accounts per company standards.
  • Track and report progress toward goals weekly or as requested.
  • Participate in supplier collaborations.
  • Maintain ongoing product and sales training.
  • Deliver emergency orders when necessary.
  • Attend trade shows.
  • Assist with store resets and distribute point-of-sale materials to build displays.
  • Maintain attractive shelf displays.
  • Operate in compliance with local and state laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience/training; or equivalent combination.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must hold a valid Alcohol Sales Permit issued by the North Carolina ABC Commission, a valid Driver's License, and meet personal vehicle insurance standards.

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with order processing systems.
