WEAVE Inc. is seeking a Retail Volunteer Coordinator in Sacramento to manage and grow the thrift store volunteer program, ensuring consistent staffing and engaged volunteers across locations.

You will work with the Retail General Manager and departments to align volunteer efforts with daily store needs, develop orientations, and support recruitment and recognition initiatives. This role emphasizes retention and inclusive, mission-driven volunteer culture.

Qualificações

  • AA or BA degree in a related field preferred; relevant experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer coordination, retail operations, customer service, or related field.
  • Retail or thrift store experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse groups of volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 tools and ability to learn volunteer/database systems.
  • Comfort working in an active retail environment, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly desired but not required.
  • Completion of WEAVE’s peer counselor training and background check (post-hire requirement).
  • Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsabilidades

  • Coordinate all aspects of the WEAVE thrift volunteer program and serve as the primary point of contact for retail volunteers.
  • In collaboration with the Community Engagement Coordinator, schedule, advertise and co-facilitate monthly volunteer orientations.
  • Collaborate with the Retail General Manager to align volunteers with store priorities, including sales floor support, Donation Center, merchandising, and organization.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, participation, and engagement in the volunteer database.
  • Orient and train volunteers in store and donation center operations, duties and customer service expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers to foster retention and long-term engagement.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-driven volunteer environment within the retail stores and donation center.
  • Develop and implement strategies for volunteer recognition and appreciation, particularly for high-frequency volunteers.
  • Coordinate and support group volunteer opportunities within the retail operation (corporate groups, schools, service organizations) and ensure experiences are meaningful.
  • Partner with the Community Engagement Coordinator to ensure a seamless volunteer experience across recruitment and placement.

Position Summary:

The Retail Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing and growing the volunteer program at WEAVE’svarious thriftstorelocations, which represents the majority of the agency’s volunteer engagement and plays a critical role in supporting revenue generation.In addition, the position supportsgeneral thrift operations including serving as a key holder, processing donations andproviding customer service to shoppers, donors and clients as directed.

This position focuses exclusively on retail volunteers and does not oversee agency-wide volunteer engagement or fundraising events. Instead, it ensures that theretail operationis consistently staffed with trained, supported, and engaged volunteers who contribute meaningfully to store operations. The Retail Volunteer Coordinator works in close partnership with the RetailGeneralManager and store team to align volunteer efforts with daily operational needs, while also collaborating with thephilanthropy and communication departmentson recruitment strategies, communications to volunteers,and overall volunteer pipeline development.

Success in this role is measured by consistent volunteer coverage, strong volunteer retention, positive volunteer experience, and alignment with retail operations goals.

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinateall aspects of theWEAVE Thriftvolunteer programand serveas the primary point of contact for retail volunteers.

  • In collaboration with the Philanthropy& CommunicationsDepartment, develop and implement strategies for volunteer recognition and appreciation, particularly for high-frequency volunteers.
  • Coordinate and support group volunteer opportunities within theretailoperation(corporate groups, schools, service organizations)andensure group experiences are organized, meaningful, and aligned with store capacity and needs.
  • Partner with the Community Engagement Coordinator to ensure a seamless volunteer experience across recruitment and placement.
Retail OperationsSupport(45%)
  • Oversee donation center operations including donation acceptance,processing in-kind donations,pricing and sortingitems asdirected.
  • Provide excellent stewardship and customer relations with all in-kind donors.
Other Responsibilities(5%)
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and relevant committees.
  • Represent WEAVE in volunteer-related community networks as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The work environment is in residential program settings. Local driving is required to various agency sites. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. often and move 50 lbs. Occasionally, extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to retrieve items, climb stairs, or use an elevator. Employees may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, write reports, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines. Communicate clearly and concisely with others. Apply above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of duties.
