Job summary

Dollar General seeks an Assistant Store Manager in the United States. This role involves maintaining a clean, customer-first store, supervising staff, managing merchandise, and ensuring profitability and asset protection.

The position includes stocking, cashiering, scheduling, and training responsibilities to support store operations. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and retail supervisory experience, with strong communication and math skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise including receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandising standards.
• Ensure cashier integrity and cash handling procedures.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
