Job summary

Goodwill Northern New England in Bangor, ME is seeking a motivated Store Manager to lead a dynamic retail team and advance the organization’s mission. You will oversee daily operations, coaching staff, and ensure top customer service while maintaining store standards.

This role requires strong leadership, retail know-how, and the ability to manage inventory, merchandising, and budgets. You will engage with the community, uphold compliance, and drive sales growth to support Goodwill’s programs

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience or 2+ years store management with P&L responsibility in small or big box environments.
• Strong leadership, customer service, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and manage store team; set performance expectations and provide coaching.
• Ensure excellent customer service and maintain store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
• Oversee inventory control, pricing, stocking, and rotation of merchandise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Set performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and promote staff development.
• Customer Service: Ensure customers receive excellent service by setting and maintaining high customer interactions, merchandising, and store cleanliness standards.
• Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control, including pricing, stocking, and rotation of merchandise to maximize sales and minimize waste.
• Sales Growth: Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth, including merchandising displays, promotions, and customer engagement initiatives.
• Financial Management: Manage store budgets and financial performance, monitoring expenses and revenue to achieve budget targets.
• Quality Control: Maintain merchandise quality standards and ensure all items meet Goodwill's quality guidelines.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Goodwill policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Community Engagement: Represent Goodwill in the local community, building positive relationships with customers, donors, and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate Degree or equivalent experience
• Two years of successful supervisory experience at Goodwill; or 2+ years of successful store manager experience with full P&L responsibility in a small box environment; or 1+ years of successful management experience in a big box environment
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations, including inventory management and pricing strategies.
• Familiarity with retail point-of-sale systems and inventory tracking software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or another relevant language is a plus.
• Experience working with diverse and inclusive teams.
• Passion for sustainability and Goodwill's mission of creating opportunities for people with diverse challenges.
