Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced store manager to oversee all store operations, including staffing, training, merchandising and customer service. You will ensure staffing levels, implement company policies and drive sales while maintaining loss prevention and safety standards.

Candidates should have retail management experience, strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in retail preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions.
• Cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Recruiting, interviewing and hiring practices including legal compliance.
• Familiarity with cash, safety policies and store security.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees; ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations and counsel or terminate when needed.
• Recommend pay rate and advancement decisions.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings.
• Open and close the store daily and maintain staffing levels.
• Open at least twice and close at least twice per week.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends, expenses and shrink.
• Manage stock targets and review inventory plans weekly.
• Staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Present merchandise with pricing and signage; maintain inventory accuracy.
• Maintain cash controls and financial integrity; cashier accountability.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and a safe store environment.
• Ensure tools and safety measures are in place; adhere to SOPs and paperwork deadlines.
