Job summary

Family Dollar in Hobbs, NM is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day tasks, organize merchandise, and help supervise and train store associates in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires strong communication and leadership skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, friendly store atmosphere.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed and ensure seasonal areas are maintained
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process all corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and other communications
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash handling)
• Maintain store areas, keeping shelves stocked and stockroom organized
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Keep store clean and presentable, including bathrooms and floors
• Other duties as assigned
