Job description


Summary/Objective

Reporting to the General Manager, the Retail Store Associate is responsible for completing duties as assigned according to production and workflow standards, as well as ensuring a positive customer experience in both the front and back of the store.


Essential Functions

Operational

  • Able to stock 1 hardlines cart per 15 minutes and/or stock 1 z-rack per 15 minutes. Associates are expected to reach this metric four weeks after training ends.
  • Maintaining appropriate security of cash and donated goods.
  • Operate register, as directed.
  • Comply with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service both front and back.
  • Perform duties according to safety expectations and procedures.
  • Ensure the physical safety of the back room and sales floor.
  • Communicate safety issues and concerns to ensure quick resolution.
  • Operate a cash register and POS system.
  • Count change, cash drawers, and complete related paperwork.
  • Greet customers, accept donations, and issue receipts.
  • Operate a hand stacker and pallet jack.
  • Perform general store upkeep, including sweeping, mopping, glass cleaning, and bathroom maintenance.

Production

  • Ensure quick placement of high-quality, processed goods to the sales floor.
  • Assist in meeting production numbers set by divisional management.
  • Follow loss prevention and process flow guidelines.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Work Environment

This job operates in a retail environment with merchandise displays and items available for purchase in inventory.


Physical Demands

The physical demands include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and frequently lifting over 35 pounds. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.


Position Details

This is a non-exempt position. Hours vary, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Full-time is 30-40 hours/week; part-time is 16-24 hours/week.


Qualifications
  • Experience in customer service preferred.
  • Comfort with handling cash and operating a cash register.
  • Understanding of the donor process and mission support.
  • Ability to perform duties safely.
  • At least 6 months of work history, unless first job.
  • High school diploma or equivalent not required.
  • Certification required to operate the hand stacker.
