Job summary

IKEA Store in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a Retail Store Associate to float between departments, delivering a positive shopping experience for customers. You will engage shoppers, merchandise areas, and learn product features while supporting food service and inventory tasks.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of retail experience, preferably in the home furnishing sector.
  • Experience in actively selling through understanding customers and their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Actively approach customers, identify needs, and advise on best solutions for their homes.
  • Keep area clean, tidy, priced and fully stocked; maintain basic merchandising standards.
  • Share product knowledge to help customers make informed choices.
  • Build furniture as needed for In Shape As New and remodels.
  • Prepare, produce, and maintain IKEA Food menu items; follow safe food handling guidelines.
  • Receive inbound goods and ensure inventory accuracy at receiving.
  • Flow product to final selling location.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide customers with a simple and efficient Full Serve Hand Out experience.
  • Provide the customer with a simple and smooth returns and exchanges experience.

Key responsibilities (title) What you'll be doing day to day

As a Retail Store Associate, floating between various departments, contributing to a successful shopping experience, you will:


  • Actively approach customers requiring additional help, identify their needs and advise them on the best solutions for their homes.
  • Keep area of responsibility clean, tidy, priced and fully stocked. Ensures that the IKEA basic merchandising standards are in place at all times to give customers a positive shopping experience.
  • Convey passion about IKEA products and actively learn about their features and benefits, sharing this knowledge with customers to help them make informed choices, resulting in a better overall shopping experience.
  • Build furniture as needed for In Shape As New, introduction of new products, commercial calendar implementation and remodels.
  • Prepare, produce, and maintain IKEA Food menu items; serve all IKEA Food menu items; follow procedures and guidelines for safe food handling, cleanliness and sanitation, and workplace safety.
  • Receive inbound goods and ensure inventory accuracy at the point of receiving.
  • Flow product to final selling location.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide customers with a simple and efficient Full Serve Hand Out experience.
  • Provide the customer with a simple and smooth returns and exchange experience.

HOURS: Open Availability Required Monday-Sunday including holidays, nights and weekends.


The pay range for this role is $18.50 - $26.14 based on IKEA equivalent years of experience
