Job summary

D&W Fresh Market is seeking a Department Manager in Caledonia, MI to lead day-to-day department operations in a retail store. You will oversee staffing, training, inventory, and execution of company standards to meet KPIs.

Responsibilities include supervising a team, managing schedules and payroll, and ensuring product quality and safety across the department while collaborating with store leadership and district meetings. Strong leadership and retail knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 2 years retail experience preferred.
• 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Knowledge of retail store operations and retail management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Spanish communication desirable, depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations in a retail store.
• Manage inventory ordering and rotation to ensure freshness and quality.
• Validate received orders for amount, quality and weight; store properly.
• Direct a team to complete stocking, production, and tasks to ensure quality and adherence to schedules.
• Maintain product knowledge across store departments and promotions.
• Communicate and execute weekly/period Flight Plans per company expectations.
• Oversee scheduling, labor control, overtime, and payroll for the department.
• Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts; participate in meetings.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and safety guidelines; take corrective action as needed.
• Support training, performance management, and career development.
