Job summary

D&W Fresh Market in Grand Rapids seeks an experienced department operations leader to manage day-to-day store department activities. You will train staff, ensure proper staffing, and drive performance against company standards and KPIs.

Responsibilities include inventory control, order validation, team supervision, product knowledge, pricing and promotions awareness, and ensuring safety and food safety guidelines are followed. Strong leadership and retail systems knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• Two years of retail experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Depending on company location, ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• This role leads day-to-day department operations in a retail store.
• Ensure associates are trained, department staffed, and goals met.
• Order and maintain inventory; ensure product freshness and quality.
• Review received orders for amount, quality, count/weight, and condition.
• Manage a team handling stocking, production, and tasks for quality, planning and rotation.
• Maintain familiarity with products in department and store.
• Know advertised items, prices, coupons and rewards program features.
• Communicate and execute weekly Flight Plan per company timelines.
• Follow scheduling tools to manage shifts and forecasted guidelines.
• Implement and control labor, overtime, and payroll for the department.
• Live the Our Winning Recipe and core values.
• Staffing, training, performance management and career development.
• Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
• Participate in daily huddles and meetings; travel as required.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked department per Prime Time standards.
• Ensure food safety and safety guidelines are followed; take corrective action.
• Develop plans to meet company goals and KPIs.
• Additional duties as needed.
