Job summary

Smart & Final is seeking a Service Clerk in Bakersfield to support store operations and assist customers with purchases and parking lot help. You will maintain shopping carts, help customers load merchandise into carts and vehicles, and ensure pricing accuracy at the shelf.

Ideal candidates read and write English, communicate well with customers and co-workers, and can lift up to 60 pounds when needed. Basic PC/Outlook skills and a Retail Management Certificate are a plus.

Qualifications

• Read and write in English and interact with the general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Maintain carts throughout the store and assist customers with purchases.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into carts and loading into their vehicles.
• Check retail prices at the shelf for checkout staff.
• Return misdirected merchandise to proper shelves and keep aisles tidy.
