Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Associate to act as the primary contact for customers, help set and maintain plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, and assist in daily store operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will unload trucks, build displays, stock and rotate items, assist customers in locating merchandise, operate the cash register, and ensure cleanliness of the front end and stockroom. High school diploma preferred; prior retail experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise in the stock room or on the sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays and rotate stock on shelves.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise and answering questions.
• Operate cash register and process payments; bag items and make change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including front end, stockroom, and restrooms.
