Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store associate to act as the point of contact for customers, help set up plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, and maintain store appearance.

You will unload trucks, build displays, assist customers, operate the cash register, and help with ordering using handheld scanners. This role requires good communication, basic math and cash handling, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons, store in stock room or on sales floor.
• Build and maintain merchandise displays.
• Stock, rotate and face merchandise on shelves.
• Restock recovered merchandise.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Operate cash register, itemize and total purchases, bag merchandise.
• Collect payment and make change.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners.
• Clean store areas and assist with sidewalk displays when needed.
