Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. Responsibilities include store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct care of store pets.

Job Responsibilities

• Enhance the pet parent experience in-store, over the phone, online, and at the register.
• Greet pet parents, answer questions, prepare online orders, and ensure a smooth pick-up process.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness, support pricing and promotions, and manage product displays.
• Promote and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Support special events and ensure a safe environment for pets, associates, and customers.
• Respond promptly to sick or injured pets and assist in various store areas.
• Participate in fostering a culture of belonging and recognition, following all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, handle objects, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 100 pounds with assistance.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet environments, pet hair, and noise. Handling live animals is common.
