Job Title: Retail Sales Associate (RSA)

Department: Museum Store

Reports to: Retail Floor Supervisor & Retail Sales Manager

Position Status: Part Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, At Will (Fixed-Term)

Fixed Term: April 2025 – August 2025, 28 hours per week

Overview: The fixed term Retail Sales Associate (RSA) for the ICA Store must be a dynamic, well spoken, customer service oriented individual who is interested in contemporary art & design.

This is a part time fixed term position which runs from April 2025 – August 2025, and requires availability to work onsite 28 hours per week including evening, weekend shifts, and holidays.

The FxT Retail Sales Associate (RSA) contributes to a culture of collaboration, community, and respect while embodying the principles of ICA’s Quality of Service and centers the work of Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Inclusion, and Belonging in all areas of their work.

Working at the ICA

All ICA employees are required to reside in Massachusetts and within a reasonable commuting distance from our Seaport location as of their first day of work.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operating the POS system and performing sales to the store’s customers.
  2. Providing a high level of customer service to store visitors.
  3. Maintaining the store appearance on a daily basis with cleaning, merchandising, etc.
  4. Reconciling the cash drawer at the end of the day. Performing closing reports.
  5. Restocking merchandise.
  6. Keeping current on all merchandise & store trends.
  7. Maintaining a presentable appearance and following the dress code provided by store management.
  8. Keeping informed about the museum’s exhibitions, and many programs.
  9. Aiding in the organization of the stock room.
  10. Opening and/or closing the store.
  11. Ability and willingness to sell memberships when appropriate.
  12. Weekend hours are mandatory, as well as some additional evenings and holidays.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Pleasant friendly attitude
  3. Operating the POS system and performing sales assisting store customers at checkout
  4. Ability to work collegially, professionally and collaboratively with a diverse group of constituents including staff, visitors and vendors
  5. Providing a high level of customer service to store visitors
  6. Availability to work 28 flexible hours including evening, weekend shifts, and holidays

Physical Requirements:

  1. Prolonged periods of remaining stationary, standing and/or moving about throughout the store and museum.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  3. Ability to move about in an office to access files, printers, etc.
  4. Must be able to exchange accurate information with customers, staff, departments, and with diverse and multigenerational visitors.

Pay Rate: $19 per hour
