Job summary

Dollar General is hiring a store associate to be the point of contact for customers, stock merchandise, and maintain displays. You will unload trucks, stock and rotate items, and assist customers in locating products. The role includes operating the POS system, handling payments, and helping with sidewalk displays when needed.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, understands safety policies, and can follow plan-o-gram guidance. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.

• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes; store merchandise in stock room or move to sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays.
• Stock merchandise; rotate and face shelves.
• Restock recovered merchandise.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Bail cardboard, take out trash, dust and mop store floors; clean restroom and stockroom.
• Greet customers and operate the cash register to total purchases; bag merchandise and collect payment.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners.
• Clean front end of store and help set up sidewalk displays when necessary.
